Apologies: Martin Hardwick, Andrew Gibb, Clive Easteal, Diane Twist, Joan Hanson, Ricky Wood, Chris Branton, Terry Branton, Maeve Sweeney, Rob Wilcox, Ed Mountfield.

Opening Remarks: MF welcomed everyone to the AGM and asked for a minute’s silence to remember and pay tribute to those lost since the date of the last AGM. Past member Brain Hodkinson’s wife was mentioned.

Minutes of Last Meeting: Proposed Eileen Wood. Seconded Alan Pearson. No matters arising.

Chairman’s Report: MF gave his remarks on the season. He gave a report on each team and their successes. He personally thanked Martin Hardwick and Andrew Gibb for their involvement in organising and running of the successful Fun Days. He updated the members on the green maintenance and that we now have a new contractor doing the job which is a lot cheaper for the club, with the end result being just as good. He congratulated the Saturday Longdendale Team on winning the league and the Ladies Vets on reaching the final of the League Knockout.

Secretary’s Report: AD presented his final report. He thanked the Chairman (MF) for his support and that of the Club. Also, to our Treasurer’s VYR and CP who had done a great job in their first year. He mentioned the importance of The Committee and thanked them also. He mentioned only 41 members now play league bowls out of a membership of 84. New members are needed and that this is now being looked into, also, by those at the top, by the governing body, British Crown Green Bowling Association. He congratulated the success of those teams who had achieved. He finished with wishing everyone all the very best for the future and keeping the Club up there with the best.

The Team Captain’s present then gave a few words of their team’s season. Three were read out for those absent.

Treasurer’s Report:  VYR and CP gave a run down of the income and expenditure account for 2024. It was down just over £1,000 due to outstanding fees payable to the previous green contractor. This was queried by John Stevenson but the new contractor didn’t start until April. Good news was that three months cutting had been paid for by the Main Club. The balance sheet was proposed by John Stevenson and seconded by Trevor Whiteley.

Match Fees and Subscriptions: Alan Pearson gave intro that costs are rising esp green and we need a new cabin at some point. To attract new members, it was proposed to reduce the league bowlers fee to £30 from £50 with the social membership fee being £35. However, to offset the shortfall in fees, the running of a “100 Club” was discussed. This will take place over 5 months as a lottery draw and prizes to be £100 for the winner. The cost is £25 per ticket and will be open to ALL members. A minimum 62 tickets sold to break even.  The floor said it was “worth a try” and AP offered to run it. MF asked for a vote and all members present voted unanimously in favour. Payment will be taken when paying the subs. Fees for 2025 will be playing members £30 + £25 for 100 Club = £55.  Social members £35.

Safeguarding: MF advised the Club now only have one officer, himself, and he was OK to continue until April when his cert runs out. The Club will need someone to come forward. Training paid for by the Club.

Election Of Officers:

Chairman: Mike Fleming stood down. No names have been put forward for this post. The Committee will have to have someone to chair monthly meetings. A new Chairman will be needed. Mike was thanked for his services to the Club.
